What does Scooba do : )
When the Scooba® iRobot, sailed forth as the first ever automatic floor washing robot available for personal use, consumers were more than pleasantly surprised by how remarkably clean it left their floors. And the newer models just keep getting better and better! Simple to operate, you press a button and the floor washing marvel will scrub your hard surface area floors (sealed hardwood, tile, marble, linoleum) using a 4 step cleaning process in only one pass:
Yes this little Scooba Roomba will actually dry your hard floor surfaces and then return to its home base for recharging. And now the company boasts that their Robotic floor scrubbers will cover an area between 250 and 850 square feet - depending on the model you purchase. It is extremely simple to operate, you fill the tank, press "clean" and then empty the tank when it's done. We like it simple! And it certainly doesn't get much simpler than that!
Clorox and robots - a fine mixture
iRobot has teamed up Clorox to engineer a special cleaning solution for their Scoobas. The special formula contains no bleach and is safe around children and pets. Clorox chemists designed a special Scooba floor cleaner soap that was easy on the robotics but hard on dirt and grim. Using any other commercial cleaners could damage the robot thus voiding the robot's warranty. It is important to note that the special cleaning fluid costs no more than any other cleaning product.
Scooba review news: Is it safe to use on all hard surfaces?
No it is not for all surfaces. While it is perfectly safe for the majority of hard floor surfaces this robotic floor cleaner is not recommended for any wood considered to be "unsealed". For example, unfinished or unsealed wood can be damaged by water. Therefore it should only be used on wood flooring sealed with polyurethane. iRobot further states this product should not be used with Pergo (laminate wood flooring) which can be damaged easily with water.
What about cost? Retail prices range from $299.99 to $499.99 and when you think about it that's a pretty good price for a live in floor maid!
