If you have stairs or a step down area the Roomba floorvac will avoid them, again by using the sensors. This prevents it from falling down a flight of stairs or off of a balcony. As it moves across the floor, the robot emits a signal that bounces off walls and searches for holes. Once it doesn't receive a signal back, it knows that there are stairs there and will stay clear of them. How Do You Stop the Robot?Once you start the robotic vacuum by selecting the size of the room you want to clean, or as in the case of the Roomba Pro Elite, a section of the room, it automatically stops when the job is done or when the battery starts to run low. The home base, which comes with the floorvac emits an infrared signal. Once the robot is finished it searches for this signal and follows it back to the base to recharge. Then it is always ready to clean at your command. Accessories for the RoombaThere are also other products that you can buy to accessorize your robotic vacuum.
